Here is an old photograph of the emperor of Russia's mother, sister and his children. I am not sure, but I believe that Anastasia is the small child at right centre front.

The attached photograph is of the Royal Yacht "Victoria and Albert" entering the then new locks at Cardiff Docks in 1907. There is also a photograph of the Shackleton preparing to leave on the polar expedition. All Cardiff history. The photographs are from Queen Alexandra own camera, taken by her hand on the day the new Queen Alexandra dock was officially opened.

I am having trouble trying to get a scanned attachment of the photographs uploaded, please keep coming back and I shall get it all sorted out and upload the pics. Meanwhile, here is a Picture of the King and the Prince of Wales "Little David".

Happy Saint David's day one and all. Nothing going on here on Vancouver Island to celebrate this great day. This evening I am off to a Wake in remembrance of an old seasalt who passed away just before Christmas. It's a pot luck supper and bring your own booze wake. As it's Saint David's day, I have made six dozen pasties and two dozen steak and kidney pies to take along. If I tell the locals that there is kidney in the pies, no one will eat them and so I'll wait until they have all had their fill to spill the beans or rather the kidneys.

Well Dai, you carry our saints name, so are you planning anything special, are you wearing your daffodil or maybe the leak? Have a wonderful day.

Today I start another year of my life and I must say the aches and pains have increased a little. Tonight I am being taken out to be wined and dined at Zooglas restaurant, which is the best place to eat on Vancouver Island. They actually serve the best rack of imported Welsh lamb that I have ever tasted. Done to perfection with a little pinkness at the core, real mint sauce, baked stuffed potato and real fresh veggies. Dessert is always a treat at Zooglas, their in house made cheese cake with different toppings is truly a dream. They also serve some of the best Angus Porterhouse steaks one could ever ask for, so tonight I am going to enjoy eating and being a piggy. Good friends, wonderful food and really good wine in on the agenda. Soon the seven O will come around in my years of life and I still hope to have the teeth to munch on all the goodies that are out there.

Hello

Hope you are well and happy new year, I am contacting you in regards to a new Welsh family business Class Art From The Heart in Swansea for you to have a look at as we are trying to contact organizations and companies that are and can be linked with Welsh Heritage sites all over the world about our business. Our names are Donna and Jeff Phillips and we are father and daughter who have just started a new business in Swansea, South Wales www.class-art-from-the-heart.co.uk which is live on the internet and started in December. My father is a well established welsh community artist and writer with over thirty years of origonal artwork, he has worked in many places in the UK and Spain and on many projects over the years including The Prince's Trust, Swansea's Enviroment Centre, A Lifelong Fellowship Award from The Millenium Commision and Regional Schools over the past ten years.

We have always had the idea of the business, but since living in Barcelona myself in 2005 surrounded on a day to day basis by beautiful architecture and meeting a lot of good friends who are involved in art galleries and sport there, I came home to plan for the last two years the set up of an on-line shop to sell his fine art prints from our origonal artwork, we have now set up the website with Business Sense in Llansamlet Swansea. We had our business launch and paintings exhibited in the Platinum Lounge at the Liberty Stadium on the 10th December just gone and we came to realise from feedback that we could do a lot of great work internationally.

Even though our main line will be the website, we are also going to branch out into sports promotional artwork and welsh heritage which we will build on our website, my father has recently painted Farewell to Stradey Park in Llanelli as a 30in by 40in acrylic on canvas as a promotion, from the origonal we auctioned off a print which raised £110.00 for the Rhydaman Childrens Dancers, we plan to auction off the origonal also to raise funds for the Ray Gravell Memorial Trust. We are also planning on doing promotional art work on The Swans, The Ospreys and other regional sportsmen and women to portray them as iconic heroes in oils after much studied feedback from fans, as we would like to break into the ex pat market with welsh pieces of art which will have a very extensive range that we are going to build constantly.

We have an extensive range of oils and acrylic on canvas paintings on military, welsh heritage, sport, serene and a 20 piece collection with origonal watercolour illistrations taken from the Latin Verse Desiderata for you to see on our website. We have had our paintings displayed in the No Sign Wine Bar on Beaujolais Day 20th in November just gone in Swansea for promotion of the business. We have painted a Spartan Lion as an idea we had based for the 2009 British Lions Tour which will include some of our great welsh players, we want to paint iconic Sports stars old and new for promotions and prints and origonals to help raise funds for business's and charities.

Jeff my father is also a writer and illistrator, three books in total two are based on his educational project work over the last ten years with primary schools to teach children about the enviroment ' Toby Toucan ', based on rainforest concern and ' Denzil The Dragonfly ' a story designed to raise awareness of enviromental issues. these are currently with publishers with the idea of them going into the school curriculum. There is also a fully illistrated fantasy written book ' Return Home To Annwn ', a story about welsh, irish and norse mythology which is available on www.amazon.com , but has been re-written after much research, this book is currently with Barclays Bank to be looked into as a seperate part of our business Class Written art From The Heart.

About The Artist

Jeff Swansea born and educated, Jeff Phillips aged 58 years is an accomplished portrait painter and an established illistrator. He is a professional artist with over 25 years experience and has built up an extensive portfolio of artwork with many new ideas in the pipeline. For many years Jeff ran his own gallery and art business from the Swansea City Centre. On many occasions Jeff has worked with Enviroment Centre Swansea and is now a member of S.E.E.F. On 23rd November 2001 Jeff recieved a life long fellowship for his Millenium award winning project " The Wheel Of Balance ". This work has been displayed at many regional schools and shows and has been exhibited extensively through the U.K. Jeff has also taken the " The Wheel ", to Spain where he delivered a series of talks which were interpreted to the students at Torrevieja Institute and at the local schools in the Alicante Province. Using the " The Wheel ", and his other paintings Jeff has developed exciting and thought provoking enviromental art work shops with such bodies as The Prince's Trust, BTCV and Mumbles Development Trust.

About Donna

Sales and Marketing Donna is aged 32, and has worked in sales for over 12 years living both Swansea, Barcelona and Tenerife with extensive knowledge in the business of sales and marketing. Being surrounded by art since she was young and drawing illistrations herself, her father's artwork has made her want to travel and discover more in the world of art, this progressing to her move to Barcelona in 2005. After much research into modern art through friends in Spain and Swansea decided to plan a family business for her father's art work to be sold as fine prints.

Both myself and my father Jeff are looking forward to setting up www.class-art-from-the-heart.co.uk and the exciting routes it will take us through art and business at home and abroad. We have recently been on BBC Radio Wales for the Jamie and Louise show on the 26th of January to get the business known as ex-pats all over the world listen into BBC.

I hope this is enough information about us for Welsh all over the world to have a piece of home please coma and see what we can do, if not I can answer any queries you may have by email .

Kind Regards Donna

Last Friday I went off to Victoria to look at used vehicles. After looking at goodness knows how many, I bought a Chevy Vandura with tinted glass etc...... Interior has four captain's chairs, table and a plush fold down bed. It's really an old style passion wagon, but great for an old bag like me to putter around in. Store some of my boat stuff inside it and even spend the odd weekend away on land looking for new marina moorings.

It's just ten sleeps to Christmas and no one here seems to be excited about it. I am an atheist, yet I really do believe in the sprit of the holiday.

In my past posts, I did not mention that after many years of being alone, I now have old Herry the ex-Liegionaire living with me aboard my boat. This year I bought him a small eight inch..... wait for it, it's not what you are thinking....... I'ts an eight inch DVD player that allows him to watch a movie while he's in bed in his cabin. I love the thought of making other people happy and just seeing their faces smile. So what is every one else getting their loved ones for Christmas. or is every a grinch! Anyway, I wish you all a wonderful holiday and lots of dreams to come true.

I make no apologies for admitting that Paul-Cardiff and I are massive City fans and are enjoying Cardiff's win at Barnsley tonight!

We have been Bluebirds since the 70's and every now and then we actually have good reason to celebrate our team's achievements.

Tonight is such a night as we have beaten Barnsley 3 times in the last 5 months, twice in the league and once in the FA cup semi-final at Wembley.

So we are now 5th in the Championship, despite the fact that we still don't have a recognised striker!

Don't we have any Swansea fans out there? How about posting a message about the 2nd best team in Wales?

And what about the Rugby fans? The season is well under way now, don't you have any comments about the Welsh Rugby fans?

What do you think of Dai Young? Do you wish he did?

This is your forum, so if you have any thoughts or comments about your favourite teams, why not post them?
